Hello, guy.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm old hat at being a viewer here but I'm not an experienced uploader yet, having previously only contributed my Segundo de Chomón videos when I saw we had so few here.

I am very enthusiastic about The Archive. The people here, like yourself, are just so warm and welcoming. It's so nice to bump into people who appreciate the importance of culture, history and entertainment. I feel foolish for not realizing how much I may have to contribute long before this, but I am so grateful to be able to do it and I'm trying my best to upload everything I can, when I can.

Segundo de Chomón (a contemporary of Georges Méliès, The CineMagician) has been so overlooked in the past. He worked with so many people, including Ferdinand Zecca, and his visions realized are just lovely, aren't they? For many years his work was confused with Méliès' and improperly credited, misplaced or even lost. He's done so many things, some of which I regrettably do not have in my possession, that (like Méliès and Lumiere) his body of work is just so impressive. This is the birth of cinema. What could be more exciting?

If you're interested, you can see some of what I've uploaded in my bookmarks. http://archive.org/bookmarks/I%20Am%20Gen%20X 0 I was advised by another contributor to put "Gen X" in my tags (and I am so glad I listened just to keep track of what I've already uploaded!) so you might also find more uploads searching by "Gen X" like this http://archive.org/search.php?query=subject%3A%22Gen+X%22

Thank you for watching the videos. Please feel free to comment and review them. I am very interested in the thoughts and opinions of others. These videos are our shared history and I welcome discussion. Please let me know if you have uploads here, too, so I can check them out.

Take care - Gen :)

Unfortunately, the only de Chomon film I've had a chance to see was EXCURSION TO THE MOON, however I did go through Community Video and book marked all your uploads shortly after you put them up. When I get done with certain other projects I'll be going after them with gusto. Maybe at some point I should follow your example and add "guyzilla" to the keywords on my old uploads. Looking forward to seeing what else you may have for us in the future.

My first buddy here told me to 1) bookmark all my uploads and 2) put "Gen X" in each videos tags. This was the best advice as I upload collections of things and it can get tricky keeping track of them. I'm glad I listened because it cuts the confusion of "Did I upload this yet?" and it's very helpful in editing metadata. I recommend giving it a try to see if it works for you.

You can the Segundo de Chomón videos here now, a much easier way to keep track of them, and I most grateful to Jeff for his kindness. http://archive.org/details/segundodechomon They are short silent films (usually well under ten minutes each) so it's easy to make time to watch them; however, I warn you - they are addictive!

Cheers, Gen :)
